Paul Goydos wins 2017 3M Championship
Paul Goydos is the winner of the 2017 3M Championship! Goydos’ victory came in a one-hole playoff over Gene Sauers after both men posted 20-under par 54-hole totals. Goydos broke the 3M Championship single round record when he shot 60 in the second round. He had a total of 20 putts in that round.
The TPC Twin Cities was in great condition and with some rain prior to the tournament itself and very little wind, the players took advantage and shot low scores. The field broke the PGA TOUR Champions single round scoring average in the second round of the tournament.
Minnesota’s own John Harris joined Billy Mayfair in acing the par-3 8th hole during the tournament.
The team of Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Lee Trevino, captained by Jerry Pate, won this year’s Post-It® Products Greats of Golf Challenge. The tournament within the 3M Championship celebrated its 14th year as an 18-hole scramble format featuring professional golf legends from the PGA and LPGA TOURS. They delighted the crowds on Saturday and signed autographs for fans young and young at heart.
The 3M Championship will donate $1.3 million in support of healthcare programs at Allina Health and has donated over $25 million to charity since 1993.
